Current track: Sunny by Marvin Gaye (Mercury Edit II)
Today had been very kind to me. I finally caught up with my best friend who has been so occupied with his new job. We can hardly find time to talk to each other on a daily basis. I accompanied him for lunch during his work break and afterwards we hit Joe & Dough for drinks. A lovely lady walked up to me and offered me a free beverage. I was touched by her thoughtful gesture and accepted the drink. I thought I'd go for a caramel latte. This is a big deal to me, considering that I have never, in these 20 years of my life, drank a cup full of coffee and now I have! Caffeine and pot-induced, you can imagine how the rest of my day went.
Initially, my good friend, also a very talented musician, Fahmy, was going to play for Arajua but due to unavoidable circumstances (ie: serving the nation) he is unable to take part. Nevertheless, as a huge fan of local music, I will be there to support them and if you haven't heard of their music before, this weekend is the perfect opportunity for you to discover new music.
One of my favourite bands, The Trees And The Wild is returning this year and the gig falls on a very special date. There are no words to express my enthusiasm. I have been a dedicated listener since 2010, when my dear friend first introduced them to me. Hearing the band live right up front raised my goosebumps. How could I forget how my heart ached when they performed 'Our Roots'? Every gig after that I look forward to that piece being played and don't mind me if you see me tearing at this one. I still have a polaroid of me with then guitarist Iga Massardi. I remember being late for 2012's Baybeats show and hearing their last song 'Saija', dancing at the back of the crowd. 'Empati Tamako' is now my beloved choice. Counting down the days to 19th of June.
