Kids our generation: they just want to fall in love and then fuck. They just want to club, in hopes of finding good company. Drink while they're still young. With Facebook statuses about finding the right one. They hurt themselves to fuck the pain away. Then there are those who stay at home, gamers, we might call them or simply youths stuck to their computer screens. Everyday, the same incessant complains of not doing what they want because they feel controlled by their parents. They feel no sense of freedom or they feel depressed about not being where they want (ex: not on the right path) or not doing anything right. Who am I to preach, yeah? I'm just like any other troubled youth. I realize one thing today, though. I choosing to be selfless from now on.
You see and hear people who do great, those who build schools and hospitals for the needy, you feel proud but at the same time useless because you will never reach anything near 'achievable'. Then you go back to your normal life, whining about not having enough money or getting the good grades. When have you done something for anyone else who you have never known? Donations can be a first step. No money? How about voluntarism? Don't have the time? Yet, you can stay home all day procrastinating online about how you're never going to get things done. It's time to step up. Start small. Maybe just help an old lady cross the street. Cliché, sure, but it's one of the few gestures that truly reflect on your behaviour.
Open up your mind, stop thinking negative about people. Everyone's going through a tough time. By helping others, you help yourself. How? Just do it, you will feel it. I'm not a good person but I try to be. Behind every bad action, comes a motive. Saying "Thank you", "Please", "Excuse me" and "Sorry" are one of the littlest gestures that can hold a big effect on another person. Start small. Smile. It's definitely easier said than done but when you do, you just made someone's day.
